An Afternoon of Style and Kindness at Bags and Baubles
A favorite bag can hold the little things we carry every day. On November 7, it can also be part of a lovely afternoon of giving.
Bags and Baubles is one of the ways to join The Kind Mouse’s A Season of Kindness. Come to The Blu Halo in St. Pete on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. for mostly gently loved purses, jewelry and accessories, with a few new pieces, and a chance to gather around a good cause. The event is free to attend. An RSVP is appreciated but not necessary, and purchases help support The Kind Mouse’s mission of filling little tummies in our community.
If you are new to The Kind Mouse, here is the heart behind the afternoon: this St. Petersburg nonprofit helps provide dependable food for children in Pinellas and Manatee Counties. Bags and Baubles gives the community a welcoming way to meet that mission. You can enjoy the event for what it is, while knowing why it is being held.
A gathering with a purpose
There is something cheerful about finding a piece you love while knowing the afternoon reaches beyond the room. Bags and Baubles is a chance to spend time with friends, meet neighbors and learn more about the children The Kind Mouse serves. You do not need a special reason to stop by. Curiosity and a little room on your calendar are enough.
The name may sparkle, but the heart of the gathering is simple: people choosing to show up for one another. Bring the friend who appreciates a good accessory, or the one who always says yes to a meaningful afternoon. There is no need to turn a pleasant outing into a grand gesture for it to matter.
The afternoon also leaves room for conversation. It can be easier to learn about a local cause when you are already out with a friend and have time to ask a question. You might come because the purses caught your eye and leave knowing a little more about childhood hunger close to home. That is a meaningful thing to take with you, even if it does not fit in a shopping bag.

How does this connect to feeding local children?
The Kind Mouse helps provide dependable food for children across Pinellas and Manatee Counties. Known as a gap filler, it helps meet children’s food needs that other services may not cover, with support from volunteers and trusted community partners. In Manatee County alone, The Kind Mouse serves over 1,000 children each week. Behind that number are children whose days are brighter when their communities show up with care.
Much of the work of getting food to children happens quietly with volunteers and trusted community partners. That is one reason an afternoon like this matters. It gives neighbors a chance to see the connection between a cheerful local gathering and the steady, discreet support taking place through community partners. The event is a doorway into the work; the work itself continues after everyone goes home.
A purchase at the event helps support the mission, but the value of the afternoon is wider than any single transaction. People learn the name, hear the purpose and may carry the story into another conversation. A community grows kinder when more people understand the needs around them and know there is a local way to respond.
Make an afternoon of it
Invite a friend and come ready to enjoy the afternoon. If you find something to take home, your purchase helps support the mission. If you would like to keep the kindness going after the event, the A Season of Kindness page also shares opportunities to host a Holiday Food Drive, make a GivingTuesday gift or become a monthly donor.
A Season of Kindness runs through December, so November 7 does not have to be the end of your connection. The Holiday Food Drive welcomes groups and individuals from November 30 through December 18. GivingTuesday offers a chance to give on December 1, and monthly support can carry the care into the new year. Choose what feels natural to you. The first step can simply be an enjoyable Saturday afternoon.
