In this heartfelt article, Mice Intern Jayden shares his favorite thing about The Kind Mouse and what makes it so special. He dives into the details of the outreach program, reflecting on how it has opened his eyes to the realities of child hunger in our community. Through his experience, Jayden has come to appreciate how fortunate he is—and how important it is to help others. His words offer a powerful reminder of the impact The Kind Mouse has on both those it serves and those who serve.

The Kind Mouse is a nonprofit organization that helps chronically hungry kids. I have participated in the Kind Mouse program for almost a year, and I have learned so much about the importance of feeding these kids. It also made me realize to be more grateful for the food I get and how lucky I am. My favorite part about the Kind Mouse is packing bags. I find when packing bags that it is relaxing, especially when I know that I am helping a kid each time when I pack a bag. The food items that are included in the bag are milk, canned food, caprisun, jif peanut butter, fruit jello, pudding, fruit snacks, crackers, granola, cereal, and applesauce. These foods have provided these hungry kids with their nutrients, since they don’t get them. These kids have to worry about whether or not they are going to get food. This is sad because I could never think about a kid who is born into hunger. These foods get delivered to schools and kids in a food desert. Food deserts are places where there is limited access to food due to a lack of transportation. The Kind Mouse has filled over a million tummies. This is made possible by our many volunteers and Ms. Gina. Some of these kids are falling behind in their education because they are mainly focused on whether or not they will have something to eat. Feeding these kids will help them be focused on their education, which could possibly change their lives and even their family. The Kind Mouse changed me personally. Coming to the Kind Mouse was one of the best things I have ever done. The Kind Mouse has taught me many aspects that can help me in real life, such as when I had to give out flyers about Casino events at the Halloween block party. These aspects are great to have at a young age. While coming to Kind Mouse I have met many great people that are volunteering for the same reasons as I am. While learning these things, I am helping the hungry kids by promoting events that would help feed them. The Kind Mouse was able to bring up my confidence in speaking, such as the phone calls. They also taught me how to film videos, edit videos, and use spreadsheets to organize information. When learning these traits, I was helping out with the hungry kids. Those videos were to help with the Kind Mouse page, so they can bring more food and volunteers to help out. My favorite part of the Kind Mouse is the Wednesday meeting. During those meetings we work together with other young volunteers from various ages to create and organize events that help feed the chronically hungry kids. The Kind Mouse is a great organization that helps feed chronically hungry kids. When volunteering there I learned many traits, as well as helping to feed the chronically hungry kids. In general the Kind Mouse was a great by organization for me to join
